Support
One credit is one minute of source video. A 40-minute episode costs 40 credits whether it returns six clips or twelve.
Plan credits reset with your billing period. Credits from a one-time pack never expire, and the plan's are always spent first.
Everything about the subscription — change tier, cancel, invoices, VAT details — is on your account page. Cancelling keeps your access to the end of the period you have paid for.
Nothing here answers your question: [email protected]. A person reads it.
Getting your first clips
Paste a link to a video you own or have the right to use, or upload the file, and press start. The run happens on our servers, so you can close the tab or shut the laptop — the clips are in your library when you come back, and we email you when they are ready unless you have turned that off in your account.
Clippen is a paid tool and bills by the length of what you feed it: one credit is one minute of source video, and that one charge covers the whole run — every clip the video yields, the vertical reframing, the captions and the hook. A 60-minute podcast costs 60 credits whether it comes back with six clips or twelve. Plans start at $19.99 a month for 150 credits ($11.66 a month billed annually) and run to $59.99 a month for 800 credits. There is no free tier.
Signing in
Two ways in and no password to lose: a sign-in link sent to your email, or Google. If the link has not arrived, it is in the spam or promotions folder about nine times in ten. Failing that, sign in with Google against the same address — it lands on the same account, not a second one — and if neither works, write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with.
What a credit is, and when it is charged
One credit is one minute of the source video. The charge is made against the length of what you put in, not the number of clips that come out, so the cost of a run is knowable before you press start and does not move with a result you cannot predict.
Credits are reserved when a run starts and settled when it ends. A run that fails, or that finds nothing worth cutting, releases its reservation — you are not charged for a job that returned no clips.
When credits reset, and which ones expire
- Plan credits arrive with each billing period and expire with it. They do not roll over.
- Pack credits are bought outright and never expire. They sit on the account until they are used.
- Plan credits are always spent first, so a run never burns the credits that would have kept.
Running out before the period ends
Two ways on. Moving up a tier gives more credits every month at a lower price per credit, and it is the subscription you already have moved up rather than a second one beside it — you pay the difference. A one-time pack is the other way, priced at the entry plan's per-minute rate so buying extra is never a penalty; it is an add-on to a plan rather than a way to use Clippen without one.
Changing or cancelling your plan
All of it is on your account page, which opens the billing portal: change tier, cancel, download invoices, and edit the billing details on them including a VAT or tax identifier. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for and you keep full access until then — no phone call, no retention maze, and nothing extra to buy on the way out.
Refunds
Payments are not refundable once credits have been spent, except where your local consumer law requires it or where we decide to grant one. If you were charged in error, write to [email protected] before raising it with your bank: it is faster, and a chargeback opened without contacting us suspends the account while it is investigated.
Consumers in the EU, the EEA and the UK have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, set out in full in the Terms along with what is owed for the part of the service already supplied.
Your videos, and how long we keep them
- The source file, its audio and the working files live on the render server only while the job needs them, and are deleted about an hour after it finishes.
- Your clips, their thumbnails and their subtitle files are archived to a private bucket that is never public, and stay while your account exists.
- Download links are signed and expire after 15 minutes. That is the link, not the file: open the library and it issues a fresh one.
- To delete your account, write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with. Deleting it erases both halves at once; what survives is only what the law requires us to keep, principally invoicing records.
Agents and the API
Not a waiting list: create a key on your account page and it works immediately. Keys carry your plan, your credits and your job history, so an agent is you rather than a second account. The same surface is available to assistants over MCP. Key management itself refuses key authentication — a leaked key cannot mint replacements. To clip from a conversation with Claude, connect the Clippen connector for Claude.
Posting the clips
A Clippen clip is its own rendering rather than a copy of the source: it is recomposed to 9:16 around whoever is speaking, with its own captions burned in. That is a by-product of the edit, not protection, and we do not sell it as protection. We do not alter exports to defeat duplicate detection, and no tool — whatever it advertises — is in a position to promise you will not be actioned by a platform. Clip what you own or have the right to use, and that question does not arise.
Common questions
- What does one credit buy?
- One minute of source video. A 40-minute episode costs 40 credits whether it returns six clips or twelve, because the charge is made against what you put in rather than what comes out.
- Do my credits expire?
- Plan credits do: they arrive with each billing period and expire with it, and they do not roll over. Credits from a one-time pack never expire. When you run a job, plan credits are always spent first, so a run never burns the ones that would have kept.
- I ran out of credits in the middle of the month. What are my options?
- Move up a tier, which is the subscription you already have moved up rather than a second one — you pay the difference — or buy a one-time pack, priced at the entry plan's per-minute rate. A pack is an add-on to an active plan rather than a way to use Clippen without one.
- The sign-in link did not arrive. What should I do?
- Check the spam and promotions folders first; that is where it is about nine times in ten. Otherwise sign in with Google using the same email address — it opens the same account, not a second one. If neither works, write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with.
- How do I cancel, and what happens to the rest of the period?
- Cancel on your account page, which opens the billing portal. It takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for and you keep full access until then. Plan credits still expire with that period; any pack credits stay on the account.
- Can I get a refund?
- Payments are not refundable once credits have been spent, except where your local consumer law requires it or where we grant one. Consumers in the EU, EEA and UK have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, set out in the Terms. If you were charged in error, write to [email protected] before raising it with your bank — a chargeback opened without contacting us first suspends the account while it is investigated.
- Where are my invoices, and how do I put a VAT number on them?
- Both are in the billing portal, opened from your account page. Invoices are emailed after every payment as well, and the billing details on them — company name, address, VAT or tax identifier — are editable there.
- How long do you keep my video and my clips?
- The source file and the working files are deleted about an hour after the job finishes. Finished clips, thumbnails and subtitle files stay in a private bucket while your account exists. Download links are signed and expire after 15 minutes; the library issues a fresh one whenever you need it. To delete your account, write to support — deleting it erases both halves at once.
- Was I charged for a run that produced no clips?
- No. Credits are reserved when a run starts and settled when it ends, and a run that fails or finds nothing worth cutting releases the reservation instead of committing it.
- Do you have an API?
- Yes, and it is not a waiting list. Create a key on your account page and it works immediately, carrying your plan, your credits and your job history. The same surface is available to assistants over MCP. Key management refuses key authentication, so a leaked key cannot mint replacements.
- Is it safe to post Clippen clips on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube?
- Nobody can promise you that, and a tool that does is promising something about someone else's moderation. Clippen does not alter exports to defeat duplicate detection. What it does do is recompose each clip to 9:16 with its own captions, which makes the clip its own rendering rather than a copy — a by-product of the edit, not protection. Clip video you own or have the right to use and the question does not arise.
